Default My boyfriends back avm

Well my boyfriend had been complaining of back pain for a around 3 months now. Back in August he had begun to feel pain on the bottom of his thigh and in his lower back. He went to his regular physician and she thought he had pulled his lumbar muscle. He had times when his vein on his forehead on the right side wuold bilge and he would get headaches. HIs physician said it was just a strain from the muscle that ran from his head down his back and to his thigh. She gave him medicine and recommmended that he stretched before any physical exercise. Well being the 21 yr old that he is he kept doing lots of physical activity. ONe day after a run and standing all day at work, he sat down for a period of time and thats when it began to hurt. He went back to his physician who wouldn't see him and had to be refferred to urgent care. Big mistake. They gave him steroids in pill form and drugs. These made him throw up constatnly. He would wake up in the middle of the night, tossing and turning and throwing up everything that he ate. He went at midnight to the emergency room complaining of major pain as he rolled around on the floor of the emrgency room in pain. They gave him drugs and told him that he most likely pulled a muscle and to stretch before exercise. The next day in the day he came to the emercency after feeling dizzy and nauseated. This time he went to the emergency room and they did a CT scan saying that there was nothing wrong and he had most likely strained his back muscle. They wouldnt give him an MRI becuase it was too expensive. We felt assured seeing as it was th e doctor....they gave him more medicine. Stronger ones. We went back home and the medicine made him throw up as well. He couldn't eat enything. Narcotics were given and they made him throw up. He hadn't gone to the bathroom in 3 days. He went back to the emergency room. THis time he was admitted. He was given an MRI and the doctor said that he might have an MRI in his back. Unfortunately they couldnt do surgery because that hospital ! (LIttle COmpany of Mary on Hawthorne and Torrance Blvd. TOrrance, CA) didnt have the equipment or the neurosurgeon for it. Not only this but he had to wait 4 days for ahospital bed to open up in the other hospital. So for four days he had to wait in pain and always drugged up while a hospital bed could open up at one of the UCLA medicals. He was finally admitted into Santa Monica UCLA medical last week. He's being drugged up constantly. After around 6 days of just having him wait and the doctor telling us assuring things, he finally had his angiogram done today. He had his first surgery immediately following the angiogram this morning. i won't be able to see him until tomorrow (wednesday)as class has been taken an enormous amount of time and its midterms week....Doctor said he has ruptures but I don't know how bad they are.
