Default A new life

Hello everyone,i had a(Subarachnod heamorrage) burst brain annie on 28/05/04.I collasped in my bathroom, not knowing what was happening, just terrible pain in my head and left side.I had several scans and M.R.I's along with, countless lumbar punches.I had the A.V.M.coiled,I thought everything was going to be ok,but then I had a long slow painfull stroke one Week later on my 37th Birthday(what a pressy to have)! Then I had encyphyliteus which meant a spinal drain(ouch)I didn't recognise my two sons. In all I lost 6 - 8 wks of my life. I truly thought I'd only be an overnight patient, how wrong could I be!I stayed in the hospital bedbound for 2 Months then moved to a nursing home for another 2 Months, while relearning everything over again. My balance and memory are still poor but i can walk with a splint& stick,i have movement in my arm and hand though not much control, but my foot and toes remain paralised. But i continue to try.I met a lady who after 12yrs is STILL improving! So much for little or no more improvements after a few years(plautau(wrong)!
It's now been 4yrs since it happened,my partner left after 18 Months,my sons have grown up and left home.I felt so alone and helpless 4yrs ago, not believing i could carry on alone. But now I'm quite happy living independantly,it can be done with or without help, determination IS the key. my biggest problem now is fear of leaving the house alone.I'm still adjusting to this new life, new walk and new way of doing things, but it does get easier. It's hard and slow but can be done. Now I feel I've mastered the basics(looking after myself and home). Anything else I achieve now will be a bonus.
There's always another goal to set, which I think keeps me going, always wanting more. The cant do list gets smaller and the can do list grows daily!
I'd be happy to talk to or email anyone from the site.BEST WISHES X RONNY
